WHAT ARE THE MAIN CAUSES OF ITCHING IN PETS?
Pruritus is the medical term for itchy skin, which is common. Allergies are not the only possible cause, but they tend to be the most frequent. Itching can be caused by conditions such as:
- Allergies
- Pyoderma (hot spots)
- Ringworm
- Scabies
- Mange
- Fleas
- Yeast infections of the skin
- Dandruff
- Bacterial infections
- Skin cancer
Our veterinarians are experienced in diagnosing and treating skin disorders and allergic reactions. Keeping your pet's skin healthy and removing the cause of any allergic reaction will bring your pet much needed relief and protect against secondary issues such as skin infections.
We determine whether the root of the condition is a behavioral issue, parasite, skin infection, or something else, and work with you on a plan to help your pet feel better.
